SOUTH LANCASTER ON THE ST LAWRENCE RIVER

1000 Islands constitute an archipelago of 1864 small islands that straddle the Canada-USA border on the St Lawrence River as it emerges from Lake Ontario.  As dusk falls one can only see the glimmer of fairy lights of the rustic summer cottages dotted on these islets.   The seaway is a fisherman's playground especially for Big Bass.  It is a kayaking and boating paradise.   Cyclists and hikers enjoy easy pathways away from the main roads.
I was astonished to see huge swathes of emerald green lawns sprawling down to the river's edge.   Huge stately homes were interspersed by smaller cottages.   I guess everyone knew where the boundary was as there were no fences, hedges or walls differentiating each property.
Our hosts, Roy and Suzanne,
