The best seafood chowder in St Andrews
The sun was shining as we motored down the East coast via St Andrews to Hancock Point,  then onto Rockport, Maine.    Fishing villages, country inns, fabulous hotels and most of all the best food we have eaten.   It was a gala day in St Andrews and the main street was blocked off for the afternoon.    Fishing competitions, a dog show, and bands of all description added to the colourful day.  We returned in the evening to The Gables and met Ted Michener, owner and artist extraordinaire.   A fun filled evening ensued.

"Campobello" was the summer retreat for the Roosevelt family over the last 4 generations. Now a museum it is beautifully restored with memorabilia of the family.

Crocker House Country Inn bedroom. Built in 1883, the house was immediately opened as a business providing overnight lodging. Baroness Olga Lanoff bought the house in 1926. The glamorous tea-peddling baroness brought colour and flamboyance to Hancock Point. Today the Inn waits in serenity for its next guests to arrive. A lovely stay in the back of beyond.

There were flowers everywhere, on wallpaper, bedspreads, carpets and the tranquil gardens.
